Tribute to Garrett Hardin

Garrett Hardin belonged to the rare group of natural scientists who understand the social world. He drew on this understanding to develop original and challenging theories about how we came to find themselves in our present predicament and what we might do to extricate ourselves. He was a brave man and a good man.
